Back to Reality and a (Late) New Years Resolution

*a Post Secret card that I really liked

I am moving back to reality tomorrow. Back to classes, working, commuting, reading, writing, and teaching. I surprisingly don't feel overwhelmed. But, I am preoccupied with some changes I hope to make during this semester.
I don't usually make resolutions. Okay, so that is not totally true. I often make resolutions every day like I will save more money and spend less, or I will travel more, and I will watch less television. But you see, these affirmations of sorts are easily ignored and placed on the long to do list of my life. But now I am going to try to make a manageable resolution, in public, that I will attempt to adhere to. And it goes a little something like this.....I will sew more during the semester and not let the stress of school stifle my creative outlet, or not to feel guilty if I don't craft as much as I had hoped. So there it is, my firsts real resolution.

The "I Do" Jacket and One Visitor

I had been planning on making this jacket Vogue V8232 for
a while after seeing what Beth had done with it.
I have to say that Very Easy Vogue
is fairly accurate. It was a simple project to make.

So easy that I added a big button a the top.

I have deemed this the "I Do" jacket in honor of my blog friend Cheila. Now, for those of you who frequent her blog, (and if you don't you should) can recall that she too used this same fabric for a dress. And in the post she mentioned that she would marry this fabric if she could. So, there it is my dear, the "I Do" jacket for your viewing pleasure.

In other events around Easthampton a visitor came to perch on my front steps. As I was sewing I looked over and noticed this Coopers Hawk out the window. She stayed around for quite a while as Ron and I stood right next to the window to have a peek. I did not even zoom in for this photo. I just wish it wasn't so back lit.

Current Crafts and a Plea for New Shows

I have been whipping up cloth napkins lately because I was sick of using paper napkins as they are a) wasteful and b) just so ugly.

While making these pretty little things I took the time to watch a whole bunch of television episodes in my studio as I meticulously ironed, trimmed, and tucked the hems (luckily no burns). I watched a little Medium, Six Feet Under, and my all time guilty pleasure....Felicity (I know, I know). And, did you all know that you can rent DVD's from the library?! And, that my local library system carries Sex and the City!
So, despite catching up on old favorites I do want to politely ask the television corporations, producers, and who ever else pays television writers to just sign the damn contract already. I am sick of reruns and all the new game shows/reality shows that you think will fill the void of missing Pushing Daisies and Heroes.
