Encouraging Conversation

I was at a local toy store, which I have fallen deeply in love with especially after this conversation.

Ollie was happily playing with a baby stroller and some babies that the store has out for kids while I checked out (and I was buying a baby doll for Ollie too, he's been into playing baby so much lately)

20-something store worker: It's so nice to see a boy who engages in well rounded play.

me: yeah, don't get me wrong he LOVES trucks, but he also loves to play with babies, animals, cooking, and all that good stuff.

worker: Yeah, some people have such distorted ideas of what kids should and shouldn't play with. It's kind of ridiculous.

And, not only did the worker say this most amazing thing, he also took the baby out of the packaging for Oliver and came in front of the counter and handed it to him. So nice. Oliver now has a beautiful baby doll all adorned in pink and light pink for his very own.
